Stoke Row Primary School is a small rural school in South Oxfordshire. We had a small hard earned budget to replace the school playground equipment which had been removed a couple of years earlier. At the end of the school day it’s hard to get the parents to take the children home as the school grounds are better than the local park.

We recently had our Quiet Area laid with Resin Bound Rubber by Schoolscapes. The children designed the pattern and the designers at Schoolscapes transformed them into our amazing new area!

I would not hesitate to recommend Schoolscapes to other schools. From the initial planning stages through to on site build the team were professional and delivered to a high standard. The site was particularly tricky as it involved converting an unused slope area, to the side of our main playground, into a multi-use garden, seating, outdoor classroom area which will be used by pupils, staff and parents to learn, socialise and have quieter play and reflection.
The team at Schoolscapes have been a joy to work with, from start to finish. From the first site visit, our consultant understood our needs and most importantly our budget. They spent the time to explain the different options available, how these would be of benefit to the children using the facilities, and how the process would work. Nanpean School pupils are thrilled with their new personalised Adventure Trail; they love the excitement and challenge it provides. Schoolscapes were very accommodating and professional throughout the whole process from design to installation. Pupils use the trail at break and lunchtimes on a house team rota which has freed up space on our busy playground. It’s great to provide new and exciting play experiences for pupils; the adventure trail effectively develops their balance, coordination and agility.

Schoolscapes have just completed a wonderful bike track in our EYFS playground. The track has a bridge, a zebra crossing, grassed areas and a garage which all help encourage the children to talk, role play and ultimately adds to the fun! The pupils of Lancing College Prep School at Hove are delighted with their new adventure playground. When undertaking such an important project within a programme of works to improve the outdoor learning environment, it was important to us to work with creative problem solvers who put the school’s needs first. We were able to stagger the works in line with different funding streams, so had the experience of two sets of installers, both were professional, friendly and hard work working. The initial salesperson was very friendly and listened to our requirements to produce a fantastic high quality fitness trail. The children love using it and the flooring surface means they can use it throughout the year.
Our children were involved in the process of designing the play equipment from the start. They really wanted the slide and the bridge and are overjoyed with result. When the construction team arrived at school there was great excitement and for a while the men had a large ‘fan club’ of 4 and 5 year olds who had lined up a row of chairs, and watched them whilst chanting ‘builders, builders, builders’.
The children have loved every moment of the construction and were very keen to go out each day (even though the weather was very inclement) to see what had changed since they went home.
They are thrilled with their ‘Adventure Fortress’ and again the area is a focus of play and learning in all of its forms within Early Years.
Our work with Schoolscapes begun at planning stage – of our building as well as our playground! The company were happy to work off plan and were able to support with visualising what the spaces would look like and how they could complement the school building. They listened comprehensively to our requirements, and then designed the playgrounds which we now have.
Our EYFS playground encompasses all areas of the Early Years Curriculum; it successfully allows children to access the arts through music and performance spaces, physical exercise is encouraged with climbing areas, and we even have a bike track which the children love cycling round and round.
In our KS1 and 2 playground, we have a beautifully designed outdoor classroom and stage, as well as music area, climbing area and MUGA fencing. The equipment successfully provides interest for children of all ages, and is clearly built to last. We are thrilled with what our outdoor spaces now offer our pupils and thank Schoolscapes for all of their inspiring ideas.
We are delighted with our new play equipment and it has been used extensively by children throughout the school community to enhance their fitness and to encourage more diverse play opportunities. It really does look stunning and I know it is something that we will continue to enjoy for years to come.

As a school, we are delighted with the service provided by Schoolscapes and their teams that completed the project, from planning the original concept to completing the installation over the summer holidays.
