Schoolscapes installed a new outdoor kids gym area at Bugle Primary School, creating an engaging fitness space that encourages active play and physical development. The trim trail features a range of equipment designed to build strength, coordination and confidence in primary school pupils.
The installation includes pull-up bars, ab incline benches, rope handles and balance beams, providing multiple stations for circuit-based activities and PE lessons. The timber fitness structures are built to withstand daily use whilst offering progressive challenges suitable for different age groups and abilities.
The outdoor gym area is surfaced with bonded rubber mulch, providing a safe, cushioned surface that’s ideal for high-impact activities. The equipment layout allows multiple children to use the space simultaneously, making it perfect for whole-class PE sessions or breaktime fitness activities.
This active play installation demonstrates how outdoor gym equipment can enhance physical education provision whilst encouraging children to develop healthy exercise habits through fun, challenging activities. Our guide Outdoor Gym Equipment For Primary Schools: A Guide For Schools covers the most popular stations and how to plan a gym area.

“As a school, we are delighted with the service provided by Schoolscapes and their teams that completed the project, from planning the original concept to completing the installation over the summer holidays. Our new playground fitness equipment looks fantastic: it has been commented on positively by adults and parents and the children are extremely enthusiastic, wanting to use it at every opportunity.
It has already had a clear impact on the awareness the children are showing in trying to adopt more healthy, active lifestyles, which was our main aim, alongside promoting more physical activity. I am also aware of many other schools who have been pleased with a similar service from Schoolscapes.”
